As an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations' Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Universal Peace Federation seeks to strengthen the UN and advance the Millennium Development Goals by:

  1. Creating an interreligious council as a forum for spiritual values.

UN Remembers 9/11 Attacks on Tenth Anniversary

On September 9, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly convened for a special Commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the attacks of 9/11. This significant ceremony was held in the General Assembly Hall.  The United Nations brought together member states to mark this solemn occasion, in hopes of moving forward for a better and more secure future for generations to come.

Washington, DC, USA - The UN International Day of Families was commemorated at The Washington Times’ Beech Room in the District of Columbia on June 17. Diplomats, media representatives, community activists, and NGO leaders made up the one hundred guests. The six speakers represented a wide spectrum of thinkers dedicated to supporting and strengthening families worldwide.

New York, USA - “Women and the World at a Turning Point”, a parallel event of the UN’s 55th Commission on the Status of Women, sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Nigeria and the Permanent Mission of the Slovak Republic to the United Nations, was held at the Nigeria House on March 2, 2011. The program was chaired by H.E. Mrs. U. Joy Ogwu, Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the UN, in collaboration with Universal Peace Federation.
