Essential Elements for Peace Discussed in Puerto Rico

San Juan, PR – On March 17th, Universal Peace Federation (UPF)-Puerto Rico held a mini American Leadership Conference addressed to the Ambassadors for Peace with the theme; “Essential Elements for Peace”. It was co-sponsored by Bonnet Insurance Brokerage Corporation and supported by IYTA Wellness & Health Center and Connecting Paths PR. Mrs. Mabell Lassalle Executive Director and Founder of Connecting Paths PR, and Ambassador for Peace served as the emcee.   Pastor Antonio Grillo Ambassador for Peace gave the invocation and Conchita Garcia, executive director of UPF-PR welcomed the guests and explained the objectives of the event and what UPF promotes as well as the value of the Ambassadors for Peace appointment. The keynote speaker was Mr. Ricardo de Sena, President UPF-USA. He spoke on the topic: The Universal Principles of Peace. He began by giving his own testimony and how these principles radically changed his life.   Mrs. Maria Vargas, executive director, UPF-USA Office of the Latino Affairs, spoke about the need to create a culture of peace and a culture of heart and how the culture of peace is learned in the family. She also reiterated the value of education for peace “Education can change the word” she concluded. In the words of Dr. Moon she explained the value of Ambassadors for Peace. Marta-Silvia Torres, founder, and director of Foundation Blessed to Bless, and an Ambassador for Peace spoke about the work they do in their foundation. They help other charities, communities, and countries with donations such as clothing, basic necessities, household goods, food, etc., as well as to make others aware of the importance of sharing blessings. She explained that they offer all the help for love of God and their neighbor. She confessed that she never thought that her work was to promote peace. She realized that living for others is actually making peace. Later, an Ambassador for Peace Appointment Ceremony was held. Three new ambassadors for Peace were appointed namely: Ing. Luis E. González Cruz, who together with his wife Marta-Silvia created the Foundation  Blessed to Bless; Ms. Glorin Ruiz Pastush, Founder of the Fondita de Jesus, a place for the homeless; and Sila Rivera Vargas, a Community leader. All the new appointees expressed their gratitude for having been selected as Ambassadors for Peace.   Olga Pizarro a professional singer delight the audience with the songs “Love in a thousand languages” and “Imagine”. An atmosphere of joy, fraternity, and good sharing was created with the wish, of some of the fifteen attendees, to repeat the experience.   Contributed by: Conchita Garcia, Executive Director, UPF Puerto Rico
