New York Celebrates the International Day of Families
New York, NY – Distinguished guests ranging from religious representatives to nonprofit organization leaders celebrated the UN International Day of Families on Friday, May 15 for what turned out to be an exciting gathering of 30 participants and four speakers. An informative seminar and panel were presented along with a very profound Water of Life Ceremony with interfaith prayers and two newly appointmented Ambassadors for Peace.
Mr. Ricardo de Sena, President, UPF USA, presented on the signifance of marriage and family in order to create a peaceful, ideal world.
Mrs. Maria Vargas, Executive Director, Office for the Coordination of Hispanic Affairs UPF USA, gave important insights into the philosophy of the founders of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) sharing that “the family is the school of love” to the participants present. Additionally, a panel titled “The Role and Necessity of the Family for Sustainable Development” was present.
A profound Water of Life ceremony was held including representatives from major religions such as Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Confucianism, Hinduism and Indigenous Traditions.
The event started at 6:30pm but the participants were so engaged that the reception lasted until 10:30pm. UPF USA is planning a follow-up program at another location in Midtown New York City.
