Celebrating Parents’ Day in NC with Two National Finalists
Durham, NC – Universal Peace Federation (UPF) of North Carolina hosted Ambassadors for Peace, family, and friends for the Parents’ Day 2016 celebration held on Saturday, July 23rd at the Triangle Family Church, in partnership with the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU).
There were approximately 60 people in attendance, with some people coming all the way from Spencer, North Carolina (over 100 miles away). Everyone sat down to a home cooked, delicious, southern meal of barbecue chicken, green beans and — to die for corn bread.
It was a wonderful and diverse group of guests, ranging from Ambassadors of Peace, to members of the Latter days Saints, to Nation of Islam to people of all races and cultures.
Daniel and Lakeisha Meadows Ivey received “Parents of Excellence” for 2016 while the “Parents of Year for North Carolina” were awarded to Kenneth and Kim Fox-Mohammad.
We showed funny family and baby videos and one family sang a duet, with their daughter entitled “This light of mine”. We also gave 10 door prices to lucky winners.
John Pace, Pastor of Triangle Family church, gave a presentation on “God is our Parent” and the “Four Realms of Heart” which was well received by the audience.
It was truly a comfortable, family event; thanking and encouraging parents for the wonderful love they invest everyday to build healthy citizens for a better future for everyone!
