Who We Are
A global network of leaders, organizations, and communities working together to build a more peaceful world
Building a Culture of Peace
We believe that peace is more than the absence of conflict. While ending violence is essential, lasting peace is built when people live in healthy relationships, families are strong, communities are connected, and leaders work together for the common good.
Across more than 190 countries, UPF brings together leaders from government, faith, education, business, media, the arts, and civil society to strengthen the relationships that make peaceful societies possible. Through dialogue, service, and principled leadership, we seek to build a culture where people can flourish together as one human family.
Peace is not something that simply happens.
It is something we intentionally build.
Our Vision
One Human Family Under God
We envision a world where every person is recognized as a member of one human family, living with dignity, freedom, mutual respect, and shared responsibility.
This vision inspires everything we do, from local community initiatives and leadership education to international conferences and global peacebuilding efforts.
Building Peace Together
Peace is not the responsibility of governments alone.
It belongs to every parent raising a family, every teacher shaping young minds, every faith leader serving a congregation, every elected official seeking the common good, every business leader acting with integrity, and every citizen willing to build bridges instead of walls.
Whether through dialogue, education, service, or collaborative leadership, UPF exists to bring people together and empower them to become builders of peace in their own communities.
Together, we are building a culture of peace—one relationship, one family, and one generation at a time.
Our Foundation
A Peace Philosophy Lived Before It Was Taught
The Universal Peace Federation was founded by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, whose lives were devoted to building peace, not simply as an ideal, but as a way of life.
They taught that lasting peace cannot be achieved through political agreements or economic prosperity alone. Peace begins within each person, grows in the family, extends into our communities, and ultimately transforms nations and the world.
Together, their lives and teachings continue to inspire our work to strengthen families, cultivate moral leadership, and build a world of peace through lives of service.
He reminded us that outward peace begins with inner transformation and a life rooted in our Creator.
She calls us to build peace through compassion, reconciliation, and the heart to embrace others as family.
From Philosophy to Practice
The Five Principles of Peace
A philosophy becomes meaningful only when it is lived.
At UPF, the vision of our founders is expressed through five enduring principles that guide our programs, partnerships, and leadership around the world.
These principles provide a practical framework for building what peace scholars often call positive peace—not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of healthy relationships, shared values, cooperation, and human flourishing.
