Uplifting Walk for Peace in Salisbury with Local Leaders
On October 11, 2025, the city of Salisbury came alive with hope, unity, and inspiration as the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) partnered with local faith communities and civic leaders to celebrate Peace Road. Founded by Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, UPF carries a powerful vision: building “one human family under God” by fostering interfaith dialogue, community engagement, and global cooperation for peace. Through initiatives like Peace Road, UPF demonstrates how faith, education, and action can come together to create real-world impact.
The event opened with the uplifting sounds of the Canvas Church Worship Team, creating a warm and inspiring atmosphere. Pastor John Harrison shared the purpose of the Peace Road project, emphasizing the importance of unity and reconciliation among all people. Leaders from Christianity, Islam, and Judaism delivered heartfelt messages of peace, while Bishop Greg Morris inspired participants to live out faith and love in concrete actions. Salisbury Mayor Randolph J. Taylor proclaimed October 12th as Peace Road Day, officially recognizing the community’s commitment to harmony and cooperation.
A highlight of the day was the appointment of new Ambassadors for Peace by UPF-USA President Dr. Michael Jenkins, including Mayor Taylor. The Ambassador for Peace mission encourages individuals to embody and promote the highest qualities of human beings—spiritual and moral values, family as a school of love, and the ethic of living for the sake of others. Ambassadors take an active role in bridging communities, fostering reconciliation, and demonstrating that lasting peace comes not only through political efforts but through personal transformation and shared commitment to the common good. Newly appointed Ambassadors Pastor Thomas Hoy and Pastor Keith Conkle rallied their congregations to participate, and the Canvas Church worship team’s performance added warmth and joy to the event.
The celebration concluded with a 0.8-mile Peace Walk from Faith Community Church to Parkway Church of God, symbolizing the community’s shared dedication to unity and peace. With the support of local ministers, Ambassadors for Peace, civic leaders, and around 100 participants, the Salisbury Peace Road event showcased how UPF’s mission and the Ambassador for Peace program bring faith, values, and action together to make peace tangible in everyday life.
